Plainview Senior Named Prestigious Science Scholar Semifinalist

The student will receive $2,000 and is vying for the $250,000 top prize.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School is a semifinalist for the 2025 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar.

This prestigious honor is awarded to only 300 students out of nearly 2,500 entrants representing 795 high schools across 48 states, territories and 14 other countries.

Senior Chloe Lee was recognized for finding a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

"She is one of the most well-rounded students I’ve had the privilege of working with. Chloe is as humble as she is intelligent, and she demonstrates all the qualities of an outstanding future leader in science," said Lead Research Coordinator Raymond Tesar.

As part of the honor, Lee will receive a $2,000 award, with an additional $2,000 granted to the high school. On January 23rd, 40 of the 300 scholars will be named Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists. This March, these finalists will compete for over $1.8 million in awards, including the $250,000 grand prize, during a week-long competition this March in Washington, D.C..
