Precipitation And Falling Temperatures Lead To Salted Roads
The Town of Hempstead is treating its roadways and urges caution driving as it goes below freezing.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A brief blast of snow could still be problematic, as temperatures are forecast to sink below freezing throughout much of the weekend.
Following rain and snow on Thursday, untreated areas could be slick.
Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin said they are prepared for colder weather.

"Our CSEA Local 880 storm crews have salted our town roadways to melt the ice and to create safer commutes for residents," Clavin said in a statement. "While the roadways are salted, we remind everyone to exercise caution while driving tonight."
After hitting the upper 30s on Thursday, it is not expected to crack 32 degrees until Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Clavin said they are treating more than 1,200 miles of roadway across the town.
