ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — With a major snowstorm about to hit Long Island, the village of Rockville Centre has declared a snow emergency started at midnight.

The brunt of the nor'easter is expected during the overnight and into Saturday, with at least a foot of snow possible and high winds.

There will be no street parking permitted in Rockville Centre.

The village will have crews treating their 53 miles of roads during the storm.

Residents are asked to remove cars from the street and limit car travel during the peak snowfall. Additionally, homeowners should bring in or tie down any loose items.
