Long Island Weather: First Accumulating Snow Of Season Possible
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island.

Let's get this out of the way first: there is not a huge snowstorm coming. You do not need to run out and buy bread and milk unless you actually need bread and milk right now.
But what may be coming is the first accumulating snow of the season on Long Island. The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for the region:
There is the potential for 1 to 2 inches of snow late Friday night into Saturday across eastern Long Island and southeast Connecticut as offshore low pressure passes to the south and east. A westward shift in the track, although a low probability at this time, would bring a heavier snowfall event to the coast and an accumulating snow across the interior and the New York City metro area.
"A storm that tracks close to the coast and gains only a moderate amount of strength would be successful at bringing a stripe of accumulating snow from New York City to Boston and perhaps as far to the southwest at Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.," AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said.

As it stands, the NWS says there's about a 55 percent chance that the island sees any accumulating snow. There's a 30-40 percent of more than an inch of snow and a 20-30 percent of more than two inches.
