SSMS Students Collect Donations to Beautify 9/11 Memorial

"Forget-Me-Not" fundraiser gathers $540 in donations.

South Side Middle School students are doing their part to make sure that the village's 9/11 memorial remains picturesque and beautiful.

Middle schoolers recently initiated the Forget-Me-Not fundraiser, inviting donors to sponsor a flower in the paper garden for $1 each. Students raised $540 to beautify the memorial grounds.

The village will host its annual 9/11 candlelight vigil at the memorial on the Village Green on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
