Arrest Made In Milton Road Home Break-In, Stolen Safe, Case

After a four-month-long investigation, a 45-year-old White Plains man was taken into custody, according to Rye police.

RYE, NY — A homeowner is getting a chance at justice after returning home to find an unwelcome surprise.

The City of Rye Police Department says that they arrested Mark Bucaj, 45, of White Plains, after a four-month-long investigation by detectives.

Police responded to a Milton Road residence in the early morning hours of March 5, after a report of a possible burglary. The homeowner had just returned from a business trip and found his mudroom door wide open along with signs that someone had been in the master bedroom.

According to police, Bucaj allegedly entered the residence and stole a safe containing jewelry and personal documents.

Police arrested Bucaj on Thursday and charged him with felony second degree burglary.

After his arraignment, Bucaj was taken to the Westchester County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

The Rye Police Department said that they "would like to thank all the agencies involved in this investigation."
