'Beware of Sticky Slots,' Rye PD Warns Of 'Mailbox Fishing'
The traps were found in the slots of mailboxes on Purdy Ave., Elm Place, West Purdy, and in front of the Locust Ave. Firehouse, cops said.

RYE, NY — The City of Rye Police Department is warning that thieves are using mouse glue traps to steal envelopes from USPS mailboxes around The City of Rye.
The traps were found in the slots of mailboxes located at Purdy Ave., Elm Place, West Purdy, and in front of the Locust Ave. Firehouse, according to police officials.
"Please be vigilant when putting envelopes in the mailbox," RPD said in an alert to residents. "We recommend you take your mail inside the local post office and hand them to the clerk, especially if you’re mailing checks. If you notice that something is off with the mailboxes around our City, please contact us."
