Boston Post Road Gas Station Car Fire: Quick Action Saves The Day
The burning SUV's close proximity to gas station structures presented an extra challenge for Rye firefighters.

RYE, NY — A potentially catastrophic situation was stopped in its tracks, thanks to quick action from Rye firefighters — and some support from neighboring jurisdictions.
Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, the Rye Fire Department was dispatched to the BP Gas Station on Boston Post Road after receiving a report of a vehicle fire.

Fire crews encountered an SUV with a fully involved engine compartment fire located next to the building. A hose line was stretched, but because of the burning SUV's close proximity to the building, support was requested from the Rye Brook and Larchmont Fire Departments, as a precaution.
