RYE, NY — A wild car chase came to an abrupt end this weekend, as the suspect slammed into a tree in Rye.
The City of Rye Police Department says that a Manhattan man was accused of stealing a car and leading police on a chase through southern Westchester County. Antonio Trusty, 36, was arrested and charged by both the City of Rye Police Department and the Westchester County Police Department.
On Sunday, around 1:05 p.m., the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center alerted local police departments of a stolen 2011 Toyota Highlander with Massachusetts plates traveling on the Cross County Parkway.

Westchester County Police Department officers saw the Toyota and tried to make a traffic stop. However, police say Trusty refused to pull over and a pursuit began. The chase continued onto the Hutchinson River Parkway, 95 north and onto the Playland Parkway, where Rye Police Department officers joined in the pursuit.
Trusty tried to evade officers by driving off the road on Rye residential properties as well as the American Yacht Club, police said.

Police say that during the pursuit, Trusty struck a Westchester County Police car as well as a
vehicle owned by a Connecticut resident traveling on Stuyvesant Ave. All involved parties refused
medical attention.
On Stuyvesant Ave. at Barron Place, Trusty struck a tree, and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
The Westchester County Police Department processed and charged Trusty with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
The City of Rye Police Department issued Trusty four vehicle and traffic law summonses for leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it.
