• ‘Steady Hand' Shea Tapped as New Permanent Rye City Manager (ryerecord.com) — Rye has officially named Brian Shea as its permanent city manager after a year in the interim role and a months-long search through up to 30 candidates. City leaders praised his steady leadership during a busy 2025 and transition to 2026, and will finalize his new contract and salary at the Jan. 28 council meeting.
   

• The Snackery — The ‘Best Bakery' Bethenny Frankel Raved About — Abruptly Closes (ryerecord.com) — Rye’s beloved Snackery bakery on Purchase Street has closed, ending owner Sara Leand’s long run of creative desserts that drew fans from across the region. In its place, downtown is evolving: a new Baxter in Rye clothing store is coming this spring, and longtime pet groomer Woofgang has rebranded as independent shop Furever Love, expanding services for local pet owners.
   

• They're Back. This Time, Local Anonymous Development Group is Floating Their Own Comp Plan. (ryerecord.com) — A secretive group calling itself the Rye Community Planning Collaborative is pushing its own unofficial comprehensive plan and criticizing city boards, while remaining anonymous. Rye officials, including the Board of Appeals chair and new Mayor Josh Nathan, are pushing back and promising to prioritize an official update to the city’s long-outdated 1985 comprehensive plan.
