2 Toddlers Die In Apparent Drowning On Long Island: Police
The sisters, 2 and 4, were found unresponsive in a pond behind their apartment complex, police say.
HOLTSVILLE, NY — Two toddlers died in an apparent drowning in Holtsville Saturday, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at 3:16 p.m. behind the Fairfield Townhouses at Holtsville on Victorian Court.
Fifth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call from a family member reporting two missing girls from the apartment complex, police said.

The officers joined good Samaritans in searching the complex, police said. The girls were located behind the complex in a pond by good Samaritans and were pulled unresponsive from the water at about 3:20 p.m, police said.
The sisters, ages 2 and 4, were both transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said.
