3% Tuition Hike Proposed For Suffolk Community College: Report

A rise in inflation-driven operating costs on the heels of a four-year tuition freeze has prompted the hike, Newsday reported.

SELDEN, NY — A rise in inflation-driven operating costs on the heels of a four-year tuition freeze has prompted Suffolk County Community College officials to propose a 3 percent tuition increase for the 2023-2024 school year, Newsday reported.

The college's $211 million budget is expected to be presented to the county's Legislature’s Education and Labor Committee by Mark Harris, the college’s vice president for financial affairs, on Wednesday, according to the outlet.

Students can expect to see the cost of a single credit increasing by $7 to $235, with full-time tuition increasing by $170 to $5,640 next year, Harris told the outlet.
