6 Suspected Of Breaking Into Buddhist Temple In Centereach: Police

They fled in a waiting gray minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey Suffolk police said.

CENTEREACH, NY — Six went inside of Vajiradhammapadip Buddhist Temple on Rustic Road on March 22 at around noon, Suffolk police said Monday.

Two women and a man entered the temple while another two women and a man went inside the living quarters, police said, adding that a resident confronted them, and then they fled to a waiting gray minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey, which was driven by a man.

Police have released surveillance images showing the gray minivan; a man and a woman, as well as another woman, walking away from the temple.

The crime has been classified as an attempted burglary.
