Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run In Farmingville: Police

A 24-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a fleeing vehicle Thursday night.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – Suffolk Police say the have caught the man who fled the scene of a serious crash in Farmingville Thursday night.

Rene Bautista-Mendoza, 35, was arrested at about 2:10 p.m. Saturday on Portion Road in Farmingville.

Bautista-Mendoza, of Farmingville, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious physical injury. He will be arraigned at a later date.

Bautista-Mendoza's vehicle struck 24-year-old Gabriel Perez, of Farmingville, at the intersection of Portion Road and North Morris Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Perez was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition.
