Arrest In Robbery String Across Suffolk: Police

Suffolk police say an undomiciled man threatened employees and stole cash from gas stations and a hotel.

RONKONKOMA, NY — An undomiciled man has been charged in connection with three robberies, including a gas station and two hotels, across three Suffolk communities in February, Suffolk police said.

Jose Nieves, 28, was deemed responsible for robberies at Shell gas station in Islip, Towne Place Suites By Marriott in East Farmingdale, and the Clarion Hotel in Ronkonkoma following an investigation by detectives from the Major Case Squad, according to police.

In the robberies he threatened employees and made off with some cash, police said.

He was charged with three counts of second-degree robbery.

Suffolk investigators collaborated with the Putnam County Sheriff’s office, the New York Police Department, and Nassau County police as Nieves committed similar robberies in those jurisdictions, police said.

Detectives are continuing the investigation to determine if Nieves is responsible for other robberies, according to police.

Nieves is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead.
