Blood Found On Vehicle Seized After Fatal Crash That Claimed Life Of Woman Days Shy Of Her Birthday: DA
The driver is accused of getting out of his vehicle to drag the woman to the side of the road before bolting, the Suffolk DA says.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A Selden man has been indicted in connection with being behind the wheel of a vehicle that fatally sruck a woman days before her birthday, and then bolting from the scene earlier this month, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said Tuesday.
Lan Truong, 44, faces charges of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a felony, and operating a motor vehicle without a license, a traffic infraction, for the Nov. 5 crash that killed 37-year-old Victoria Hutson of Selden, prosecutors said.
When detectives found Truong's 2016 Toyota Camry later that night, they saw blood on its windshield, passenger-side door, and passenger-side window, and was seized then taken as evidence, according to prosecutors.

Truong was ordered held on $200,000, $400,000 bond, or $2 million partially secured bond pending his next court appearance on Dec. 16.
If convicted on the top count, he faces two and one-third to seven years in state prison.

Patch has reached out to his defense attorney, Chase Brown of Central Islip, for comment.
Tierney said Hutson was less than two weeks away from her 38th birthday when she was struck by Truong who "left her at the side of the road and fled."
“Pedestrians walking around Suffolk County in broad daylight deserve to feel safe," he added.
On Nov. 5, at around 11:21 a.m., Truong was driving the Camry northbound on Boyle Road in Selden when it swerved into the right-hand shoulder lane where Hutson was walking, and it struck her, according to prosecutors.
The impact sent Hutson’s body partially into the road, prosecutors said, adding that Truong did not call 911, but instead, was seen stopped at the next intersection where he got out of the Camry, and walked over to her body, then dragged her onto the shoulder before leaving.
Bystanders tried to help Hutson, who died at the scene from her injuries, prosecutors said.
Truong was arrested on Nov. 6.
