Bloods Gang Member Arrested After Fleeing Police: Cops

Police say the 19-year-old was wanted for multiple crimes and struck an unmarked police car as he fled in a 2015 BMW Thursday.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – A 19-year-old man was arrested on numerous charges after fleeing police Thursday afternoon, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, the Precinct Gang Team was looking for Jhion Goff, a Bloods gang member, known to them to be wanted for multiple crimes when they observed him at 739 Michigan Ave. in Bellport shortly after noon.

Goff, of Coram, then entered a 2015 BMW, struck an unmarked police vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed police said. A police helicopter followed him overhead and alerted responding units to his location.

Goff parked his car at 70 Overlook Dr. in Farmingville and fled on foot, police said.

He gave up a short time later in front of 45 Overlook Dr., where he laid down on the ground with the police helicopter overhead, at about 12:15 p.m.

Goff is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing from an Officer, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage, two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Warrant.

Suffolk County Narcotics Section charged him with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. Sixth Squad detectives charged hime with Reckless Endangerment First Degree, for a gun related incident on East Bartlett Road in Middle Island on Aug. 16, 2018.

Goff was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
