Brookhaven Completes Operation Clean Sweep in Farmingville

Thirty five street signs and 38 streetlights fixed and 2.5 tons of trash removed.

The Town of Brookhaven completed its Operation Clean Sweep initiative in Farmingville last week.

According to the town, over the course of Operation Clean Sweep in Farmingville, Town employees:

  • Swept all streets
  • Replaced 129 street signs
  • Repaired or replaced 38 streetlights
  • Trimmed 19 trees
  • Removed 2.5 tons of trash and debris

Brookhaven’s Quality of Life Task Force also issued 40 notices to residents for a wide range of violations, including unregistered vehicles, litter, parking on the front lawns and boats in the front yard. The town said a number of appearance tickets will be issued to violators for non-compliance and for illegal multi-family houses.

“As a result of Operation Clean Sweep in Farmingville, over 60 street lights and street signs were fixed, over 2.5 tons of trash was removed, and all of the streets were swept,” Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko said. “I thank our Quality of Life Task Force for the great job they do in maintaining the high quality of life in our residential communities. By targeting areas like this one, we have been able to clean up neighborhoods block-by-block.”
