Video tells story of Amy Homan McGee, who died from a domestic dispute.
This Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m., the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Women’s Services will screen the award-winning documentary film, “Telling Amy’s Story” and host a panel discussion to help raise awareness of domestic violence.
The film recounts the events surrounding the life of a young woman named Amy Homan McGee, who after years of abuse finally decided to leave her husband Vincent. On Nov. 8, 2001, she was shot by her estranged husband when she went back to her old house to retrieve some belongings.
Following the film, a panel discussion will be held with experts and advocates from the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Suffolk County Police Department, and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
