BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Suffolk's first responders were kept busy this week, from robbery suspects to arson investigations, and a false report, according to the department's logs.
Here's a snapshot from Oct. 27 to Nov. 10:
BELLPORT

- A 26-year-old man was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon after police say he threatened another man with a knife at U.S. Petroleum in Bellport on Nov. 6. The man did not have any known address listed in his arrest report, according to police.
CENTEREACH
- Arson Squad detectives are investigating a brush fire that broke out in Centereach on Nov. 8, police said. It started at about 3:18 p.m. at a location on Nesconset Highway, according to police. Further details were not available.
CORAM

- A man threatened another man on Middle Country Road in Coram in a road rage incident on Oct. 29, police said. The man's vehicle was searched and no weapons were found, police said, adding that the other man declined to press charges. It happened at about 1:23 p.m., police said.
HOLTSVILLE
- A man threatened another man with a hunting knife on Astro Court in Holtsville at about 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 31, police said.
- A resident from upstate reported that $3,000 was stolen from them by extortion in Holtsville on Oct. 31, police said. The person reported that they were told that they needed to pay the money and they were threatened, according to police.
- A 12-year-old falsely reported being robbed in Holtsville on Nov. 5, police said. No charges were filed.
MASTIC
- A 19-year-old Riverhead man was charged with second-degree menacing with a weapon after police say he threatened someone with "a sharp metallic blade" at a supermarket on Montauk Highway in Mastic on Saturday.
PATCHOGUE
- A 43-year-old man was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon on Oct. 30 after police say he threatened another man with an air rifle in Patchogue. The man reported was walking down Shaber Road at about 4 p.m. when he was approached, police said.
SELDEN
- A Selden man was charged with first-degree robbery after police say he swiped tools and beef jerky from The Home Depot at Independence Plaza on Nov. 5. When he was confronted by an employee, he flashed a sharp object at the person, according to police. Scott Hirt, 40, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his bail was set at $100,000, $200,000 insured bond, and $1,000,000 partially secured surety bond, according to online court records.
SETAUKET
- A 19-year-old swiped two lawnmowers from The Home Depot in Setauket back in June, police said. Jaydin Shuck, of Rocky Point was charged on Oct. 31 with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, as well as two counts of petty larceny, according to police. Further information was not available. Shuck pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance, online court records show.
