Charges In Selden Bank Robbery: Police

The 51-year-old Selden man held pending his arraignment on a charge of third-degree robbery, Suffolk cops say.

SELDEN, NY — A 51-year-old Selden man has been charged in connection with the robbery of Chase Bank on Monday, Suffolk police said.

Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, Joseph Amorosa, was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Amarosa is said to have gone inside the bank on Middle Country Road at around 3:30 p.m., and verbally implied to an employee that he had a weapon and handed a teller a note demanding cash before bolting, police said.

Amarosa is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
