Chili Cook-Off & Pop-Up Restaurant a Huge Success

Funds raised for children and adults affected by mental illness as well as at-risk and homeless veterans

The Association for Mental Health and Wellness’ (MHAW) October 16th Chili Cook-Off & Pop-Up Restaurant in Ronkonkoma was a huge success. Scores of people enjoyed delicious meat and vegan chili, participated in an exciting raffle, and listened to some great music performed by The School of Rock as well as country-western rising star Carolyn Miller.

The Martin A. Kessler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2912 won both the People’s Choice Award and the top chili in the Professional Meat category. The Professional Vegan winner was Green Street Food Truck. In the Local Talent category, the meat winner was MHAW's Home and Community Based Services and the vegan winner was Karen Johnson. Congratulations to winners and to all of the teams that participated!

The event would not be possible without the generous support of several sponsors including Riverhead Ford Lincoln, Bradley & Parker, Cerini and Associates, LLP, Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc., and Ronkonkoma Rotary. MHAW extends thanks as well to the many donors, dedicated volunteers, the MHAW team, and everyone who came out to support this event.
