- The Ballet Center Creates a Professional Environment. As a professional dance studio we focus on one thing: your child's continued progress in dance. Many dance schools are commercial in nature, focusing more on frivolous playtime and dress up. Class sizes at these establishments are usually very large. The main focus of a commercial studio is the annual recital. They spend most of the class time learning the recital dance. We focus on learning technique, steps and proper terminology. When you have those tools learning choreography becomes easy. An Apprentice Program is available for students wishing to become professional dancers and dance teachers.
- Qualified Teachers All of The Ballet Center staff are qualified instructors that hold degrees in dance, is certified to teach dance, or has danced with a professional company.
- Professional Ballet Company in Residence Ballet Long Island is a professional ballet company established in 1985. Our services include performances, arts in education programs, apprentice program, trainee program, choreography, master classes and workshops. Our repertoire includes – The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Snow White, The Sleeping Beauty, The Fantastic Toyshop, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Swan Lake Act II, Multicultural Celebration, Le Corsaire pas de deux, Don Quixote pas de deux and original ballets choreographed for our company.
- Proper Dance Attire The students wear proper dance attire and costumes for performances. You will never see a student in a sports bra and panties on stage or in the classroom.
- Realistic Expectations We do not push students to do tricks in class or onstage. Age appropriate training is very important.
- No Competitions. Dance is art not sport. The focus is in the wrong place. The fees are out of control. Competitions tend to bring out the worst in people. There are horror stories all over the place about the way kids, moms, and teachers act when in the heat of competition.
- Music Selection Selecting music is a critical process for dance studios. Music helps to define style and shape attitude. It supports dancers’ emotional expression and inspires their passions for the moves and combinations. Our music is family friendly and age appropriate.
- Affordable Tuition and Fees all tuition and fees are listed on our website. There are no surprise fees. Scholarships are available. Our mission is to make ballet available and affordable to everyone.
