Driver, Passenger Seriously Injured In DWI Crash In Holbrook: Police
His Infiniti struck a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway at around 3:30 a.m., Suffolk police said.
HOLBROOK, NY — A Port Jefferson Station man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he and one of his passengers were seriously injured in a crash early Saturday morning in Holbrook, Suffolk police said.
Walter Maybanks was driving a 2014 Infiniti eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, east of Exit 61, when it struck the rear of a tractor-trailer and the center median at around 3:30 a.m., according to police.
Maybanks, 36, and one of his passengers, a 26-year-old woman, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. A 32-year-old man in Maybanks’ car was not injured, as well as the driver of the tractor trailer, a 59-year-old man, according to police.

The crash was one of two serious crashes in less than 24 hours in Suffolk.

Maybanks will be arraigned on a later date, police said.
His Infiniti was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing, according to police.
