Drunk Driver With 35 License Suspensions Crashes Car: Police
A 30-year-old woman faces felony charges after the Long Island crash early Sunday, police say.
LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY –A 30-year-old woman whose license has been revoked 35 times was arrested on felony charges after a single-car crash in Lake Ronkonkoma early Sunday, police said.
According to Suffolk Police, Maritza Lavergne was driving a 2010 Ford Focus west on Portion Road, near Hans Boulevard, when the car hit a traffic sign and a tree at about 4 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they observed indicators of intoxication and arrested Lavergne for DWI, police said.

An investigation noted that her license had been revoked with 35 suspensions and she did not have a court-ordered alcohol interlock system on her vehicle, police said.
Lavergne, of Central Islip, was charged with two felony counts of first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated DWI and operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device. Her car was impounded.

Lavergne was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday. She is being held in jail on $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash bail.
