Drunk Driver Crashed Into Curb With His Son in Car: Police

He faces a felony DWI charge.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – A 38-year-old man was arrested on a felony DWI charge after he crashed into a curb with his 3-year-old son in his car early Monday, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Arash Haghani was driving a 2016 Nissan sedan west on Portion Road in Farmingville when a Sixth Precinct Patrol officer observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel and striking the roadside curb at about 12:25 a.m. The officer initiated a traffic stop.

Haghani, of Farmingville, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger (Leandra’s Law), and endangering the welfare of a child.

The 3-year-old was released to his mother at the scene. There were no injuries.

Haghani was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
