An online fundraiser has been started for the family of Maddie Sparrow, the 17-year-old from Lake Grove who collapsed and died during a marching band practice at Sachem High School East Monday night.
The GoFundMe fundraiser had raised $6,800 of a $15,000 goal as of Thursday night.
"She was 17 years old and was too young to leave us," the fundraiser's organizer, Connor Locklin wrote. "Maddie was an inspiration with an infectious smile and laugh. She was a friend to everyone and everyone loved her. She loved marching band, always strived to give it her best and was an inspiration to so many. Her family will need our help and support."
