Funeral Services Set For Holbrook Man Killed In Hit-And-Run
He will be memorialized at a local church where he formed ties over the years, his family said.

HOLBROOK, NY — Funeral services for Richard DiRocco have been set for Thursday at Abundant Life Ministries in Holbrook.
DiRocco, 63, was struck in a hit-and-run on Coates Avenue in Holbrook and he died from his injuries on Dec. 3.
DiRocco, who was diagnosed autistic and bipolar, had only been living in Holbrook for about three years, but he found a place in the community and settled in by forming ties with Abundant Life Ministries, his sister, Susan Hartl, said.

DiRocco was described as the kindest man that could ever be imagined and his loss has left his family devastated, Hartl told Patch in an interview.
"It's indescribable heartache," she said.

The family plans to hold a private memorial ceremony in the spring.
At the suggestion of the community, in his honor, the family has started a GoFundMe, which, so far, has raised $1,425, surpassing its $1,000 goal.
The funds will be donated to a charity, though the family has not decided which one.
In the days since his death, no arrests have been made.
Investigators have impounded a pickup truck in connection with the crash, police said.
They are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact Major Case Unit detectives at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS, a confidential hotline.
