Knifepoint Robbery Spree Ends In Arrest Of Mother, Son, Daughter: Police

The family was arrested in connection to seven knifepoint robberies across Suffolk County.

A mother, daughter and son were arrested on Saturday in connection to seven knifepoint robberies that occurred across Suffolk County over the last month, police say.

Rick Mascia, 25, of Medford, Lauren Mascia, 31, of Mastic Beach and their mother Deborah Salvatore, 55, of Mastic Beach, were arrested following the latest robbery at Dunkin' Donuts, located at 350 Middle Country Road in Coram, at 9:45 p.m.

According to authorities, Rick Mascia entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded money. Police say the cashier opened the register and then ran toward the back of the store. Mascia grabbed money from the register and fled, police say. Salvatore was waiting for him in a parked car outside the store, police say.

Both Rick Mascia and Salvatore were arrested at the scene. Further investigation led to the arrest of Lauren Mascia.

These three are believed to be connected to the below robberies:

  • Family Dollar, located at 349 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 9:50 p.m.
  • Family Dollar, located at 222 Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma, on Friday, Sept. 29 at approximately 10 p.m.
  • Carvel, located at 400 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on Friday, October 13 at 9:55 p.m. Read more here.
  • Carvel, located at 400 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on Saturday, Oct. 14 at approximately 10 p.m.
  • Dunkin' Donuts, located at 500-11 Medford Ave. in Patchogue, on Monday, Oct. 16 at 10:33 p.m. Read more here.
  • Dollar Tree, located at 3235 Horseblock Road in Medford, on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 9:43 p.m. Read more here.
  • Dunkin' Donuts, located at 350 Middle Country Road in Coram, on Saturday, Oct. 21 at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Rick Mascia was charged with six counts of first-degree robbery for all the robberies except Oct. 16. Salvatore was charged with first-degree robbery for the Oct. 21 robbery. Lauren Mascia was charged with six counts of first-degree robbery for all the robberies except Oct. 21.
