"We have policies in place that speak specifically to conduct and behavior with students," he added.

Sanders said that when "apprised of possible misconduct a few weeks ago" the studio's management "immediately suspended" Viscomi’s employment pending further investigation."

"We do take matters like this very seriously," he said. "Although the allegations did not occur on my premises or at any of our events, they are extremely troubling, nonetheless. It is now up to our court system to sort out justice."

A Suffolk police spokesman said the girls were together at one of their houses during at least one of the chats.

Following an investigation by 4th Squad detectives, Viscomi, of North Washington Avenue, was arrested during a traffic stop near his home at Oxhead and Middle Country roads in Centereach, and charged with six counts of use of a child in a sexual performance, four counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, according to police.

It is unclear if the girls were students of his.

His attorney, Steven Politi of Central Islip, said he denied the allegations, and that Viscomi, an accomplished dancer who has appeared on Broadway and was a backup dancer in some pop acts, had his career tarnished by the charges.

"Don't believe the police, or these girls because nothing happened," he said. "That's the thing that I think a lot of people — including some defense attorneys and judges are losing sight of — is that just because somebody says something happened, doesn't make it okay."

Viscomi has been charged with six counts of use of a child in a sexual performance and four counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child.

He was additionally charged with four counts of first-degree disseminating indecent material, as well as two counts of second-degree disseminating indecent material to minors, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Viscomi remains suspended from his job, according to Politi.

Politi said he is "particularly disturbed" by the $2.25 million bond "that the judge decided was reasonable in this case."

"Even if everything is true, the judge can give him probation," he said. "They're non-violent allegations."

Viscomi has no prior offenses and has the support of the community, making him someone who should be released, according to Politi.

He's hired two attorneys to defend his case "vigorously," Politi said.

"This is the man who deserves a $2.25 million bond," he added.

Police are asking anyone who may have been victimized by Viscomi to call the 4th Squad at 631- 854-8552.
