A shootout erupted after two men kicked in the front door of a home early Friday

FARMINGVILLE, NY –Gunfire erupted after two men kicked in the front door of a Long Island home overnight, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, two men kicked in the door of a home on Horizon View Drive in Farmingville around 2:10 a.m. They displayed a gun and demanded drugs and money from the homeowner.

The homeowner fired a shotgun at the robbers and one of the robbers fired his gun as he fled, police said. Two homes, the one targeted by the robbers and one next door, were struck with a single bullet each, police said.

Detectives recovered drugs at the scene, police said. No one was injured and no arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8635 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477.
