WATCH: Sachem Cheerleading Squad Makes National News
A group of 11-year-old Long Island cheerleaders were featured on The Today Show Monday for their frontline hero feeding campaign.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A group of 11-year-old cheerleaders from the Sachem school district found themselves on national television Monday morning. The Sachem 11’s Cheerleading “Feed Our Heroes" campaign was featured on The Today Show. The campaign, a grassroots effort to feed frontline healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic, has raised over $20,000 to purchase food and meals for hospital workers.
Last week, the girls each received a citation of appreciation from Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo for their efforts.
Last Friday, the cheerleading squad delivered 1,955 homemade baked good items to 600 out-of-state nurses working in New York City hospitals. The group plans to continue accepting donation and making deliveries as long as there is a need.
