Long Island Council of Navy League of U.S. Elects New Leadership
Ronkonkoma, NY-headquartered Long Island COuncil of the Navy League of the United States has elected a new President and Vice President.
Ronkonkoma, NY; December 16, 2021 - Ronkonkoma, NY-headquaertered The Long Island Council of The Navy League of the United States, an organization dedicated to strengthening the ties between Long Island-based defense supporters, veterans, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard and maritime sea services, has announced new leadership. Mr. Roger Noakes of South Setauket, NY has been elected President and Mr. Owen W. Watford of Hempstead, NY has been elected Vice President by the Long Island Council of The Navy League Board of Directors.
Mr. Noakes succeeds longtime outgoing President Forrest "Woody" Woodward, whose latest term had expired. Mr. Noakes commented, "I am very proud to be elected Council President and I look forward to helping shape the direction and future of the organization. Long Island is home to hundreds of defense contractors, active sea service personnel, veterans and cadet youths, all of whom we support through the outstanding work of our corporate members as well as through legislative outreach. Forthcoming efforts will highlight the valuable work of defense contractors and honor the invaluable contributions of veterans through fellowship events and activities."
Vice President Watford added, "Being in a position to assist our men and women in uniform and all our veterans through corporate support and grass roots efforts creates a feeling of accomplishment in the defense of our nation. I'm pleased to announce that we will continue our tradition of commissioning U.S. Navy ships with the commissioning of the Arleigh-Burke class guided missile destroyer U.S.S. Patrick Gallagher, which is currently under construction."

Mr. Noakes is President of Voyages of Discovery, a nonprofit organization located in Setauket, NY, whose mission is to empower youth with confidence, courage and character through offshore sailing adventures.
Mr. Watford is Business Development Manager at Retlif Testing Laboratories of Ronkonkoma, NY, a globally recognized, independent EMC/EMI and environmental testing (ESS) organization founded in 1978 that serves the military, maritime, rail, aerospace and aviation industries, among others.
