Long Island School Closings, Delays For Monday, March 4

A winter storm warning has been canceled early, ruining the hopes and dreams of Long Island children for their first snow day of the school year. A few school districts, mainly in Nassau, will be closed Monday, but most districts will operate with delayed openings.

The National Weather Service had been predicting 6-8 inches of snow for the island, and while final totals aren't in yet, we think it's safe to safe they will be nowhere near that high.

Temperatures across the area will remain around freezing through the morning commute, so any untreated surfaces will likely be slippery, the NWS says. Use extra caution if you plan to travel this morning as road conditions may be hazardous.
