Man Hospitalized After Standoff With Officers On Long Island: Police

He made threatening statements and locked himself in an apartment, leading to a standoff that lasted around four hours, police said.

BOHEMIA, NY — A man barricaded himself in an apartment in Bohemia on Tuesday, leading to a standoff with officers on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Officers were called to a home on Greenbriar Drive at around 6:18 p.m. after a man "made threatening statements" and then locked himself in an apartment, according to police.

Members of the Hostage Negotiation Team were able to reach the man on the phone and talk him into getting out of the home at 10 p.m., police said, adding that the man was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
