Man Killed in Head-On Crash on Sunrise Highway Overpass

Five vehicles were involved in the crash Wednesday night that killed one person and injured another.

A man was killed in a head-on crash on a Sunrise Highway overpass Wednesday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, a 54-year-old man was driving a 2005 Cadillac south on North Ocean Avenue at about 9 p.m. when the car crossed into the northbound lane, struck the guardrail on the overpass, sideswiped two other cars and then crashed head-on into a 2018 Ford Explorer. The impact caused the Explorer to crash into another vehicle.

The 54-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
