LONG ISLAND, NY — Voters in New York's 8th Assembly District will see an incumbent challenged as they head to the polls on Nov. 8.

The candidates:

  • Michael Fitzpatrick (Republican, Conservative)
  • Jeanine Aponte (Democrat)

Incumbent Republican Assemb. Fitzpatrick, of St. James, was first elected to office in 2002.

He will face Democrat Jeanine Aponte, of Hauppauge, in the election.

Communities in the 8th Assembly District includes Head of Harbor, Islandia, Nissequogue, Village of the Branch, Brentwood, Commack, Fort Salonga, Hauppauge, Kings Park, Lake Ronkonkoma, Nesconset, Ronkonkoma, Smithtown, and St. James.
