Police ID Couple Killed In Ronkonkoma Crash

RONKONKOMA, NY — Suffolk police have identified the couple killed in a crash in Ronkonkoma on Saturday.

Walter Jakubowski, 83, and his wife, Margaret Jakubowski, 75, of Ronkonkoma, were involved in a one-vehicle crash on Peconic Street at 11:20 a.m., police said.

Walter was driving a Subaru Forester westbound on Peconic Street when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a tree, police said.

The Jakubowskis were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
