Sachem East Girls Volleyball: Sachem 3, Bay Shore 2 ... Sachem East girls volleyball had yet another late night in the gym, this time battling Bay Shore. And what a battle it was as the girls went five games with the Marauders. Each game was tight, and it came down to who played the best defense. Co-Captain, Jenna Rosado, is a solid defensive player who kept things in control in the back row. The Arrows' newest additions, and youngest players, sophomore Casey Gelderman and freshman Malika Hollis stepped up as and filled new roles as Libero and Outside Hitter respectively. Senior Co-Captains, Diana Westerhaus and Amanda Hallstein, stepped up and helped lead their team to a 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 victory. "This win was again, because of the whole of the team," said Sachem coach Amanda Katz. "When one member is down, or sick or injured, there is another to help fill a role and get the job done. I was so proud of all the girls and am looking forward to seeing what else my team will do this season."
