Republican Neil Manzella Wins Brookhaven's 3rd CD: Suffolk BOE

Manzella garnered 1,255 votes to Democratic challenger Allyson Bass' 1,215, unofficial results show.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — In a close vote, Republican Neil Manzella has won the special election against Democratic challenger Allyson Bass for the Town of Brookhaven's 3rd Council District seat, according to unofficial results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

Manzella, who also had the Conservative line, garnered 1,288 votes or 46 percent of the vote to his Allison Bass' 1,215 or 43 percent of the vote, the results show.

In a Facebook post, Manzella said that he could not "begin to thank the residents of Brookhaven’s 3rd Town Council District enough."

"My campaign team was nothing shy of spectacular, but our job was simply to spread my message," he said. "It is you, the residents, who took the time out of your day to exercise your right to vote for your next Councilmember! I am humbled by the response, and I look forward to serving you to the best of my abilities."

The council seat was formerly held by Town Clerk Kevin LaValle, who won a special election and vacated the seat earlier this year.
