The district welcomed nearly 80 new teachers and teaching assistants during new teacher orientation Aug. 29.

The Sachem Central School District welcomed nearly 80 new teachers and teaching assistants during new teacher orientation on Aug. 29. The educators gathered at Hiawatha Elementary School where Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Pellettieri welcomed the group into the Sachem family.

“We come together in our classrooms, in our buildings and in our community. We are there for one another, we support one another,” he said.
Dr. Pellettieri thanked the group for their gift of time and dedication to Sachem students. Additionally, Board of Education President Robert Scavo addressed the new teachers, welcoming them into the district.

After the opening remarks, the new teachers learned about the district’s mentoring program and participated in presentations to prepare them for the start of the school year.
