Sachem East HS Senior Selected for Prestigious Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Program

Jaden Rudnicki, a senior and student-musician at Sachem East High School, recently auditioned for and was accepted to the prestigious Manhattan School of Music Pre-College program, a comprehensive conservatory-style music program for students who exhibit the talent, potential and ambition to pursue serious music study at the college level. Jaden has been a horn player since his early days in 4th grade at Tamarac!
At the MSM Pre-College program, Jaden will have the opportunity to work with world-class musicians – many of whom are on the MSM college faculty – to develop technical proficiency while fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity. The program runs every Saturday from September through May at MSM in New York City. Jaden will be studying privately with Hugo Valverde, the 2nd horn with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Jaden's classes will include music theory/history and ear training, while playing in a chamber ensemble and with the Pre-College Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jaden had a summer rich with music performance as well! Right when school was out in June, Jaden performed 4th horn in a Horn Quartet with the Island Symphony Orchestra at their concert at St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church, BayShore. In early July, Jaden received the news that he won 2nd place in his age division in the Charleston International Music Festival 19th Century Music Competition!! A week later, Jaden performed a Horn Concerto at the Robert Krueger bandstand in Northport with the Northport Community Band for winning 1st Runner up in the Young Artist's Competition. Jaden then attended a 2-week intensive-study music camp in Philadelphia at Valley Forge Military Academy and College called Philadelphia International Music Festival and Camp (PIMF) where he studied with Jeffrey Lang (associate principal horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra) and was asked to perform during the Brass Masterclass. During that camp, Jaden won 3rd place in his age division in their Virtual Concerto Competition as well as Honorable Mention in their Live Concerto Competition during the 2nd week of camp! Upon returning home, Jaden flew off to the International Horn Symposium (IHS56) at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado for a week of priceless time with horn professionals and educational recitals/sessions. A true highlight of the week was performing a Mozart Horn Concerto at the masterclass of Leelanee Sterrett (3rd horn in our New York Philharmonic)!!
Jaden also volunteered this summer to perform recitals at 3 different nursing homes in our area, being asked to return during the holidays for carols and sing-alongs with the residents!
Congratulations, Jaden! Sachem Proud!!
