Long Island Woman Left 2 Cats Behind In Closet In Apartment Move: SPCA
The pets were found days later with feces on the floor by apartment maintenance workers, Chief Roy Gross said.
HOLTSVILLE, NY — A Holtsville woman was charged with abandoning her two cats after they were found alive in a closet days after she moved out of an apartment, the Suffolk Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said Tuesday.
Detectives charged the woman, 32, with multiple misdemeanor animal abandonment charges, alleging she abandoned her cats by leaving them in a closet after leaving an apartment and removing all furniture and contents, SPCA Chief Roy Gross said.
After leaving the apartment, she never contacted apartment officials about getting the cats, and they were found alive in a closet with feces all over the floor, Gross said, adding that maintenance staff had gone inside the apartment after they were called by PSEG about a power interruption in the apartment.
