WATCH: Long Island Woman Pens 'Healthcare Hallelujah' Song

A woman and her niece team up to honor front line workers with original song lyrics and a video tribute.

HOLBROOK, NY — A Holbrook woman was inspired by the hard work and sacrifices of healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic. Melissa Moritz changed the lyrics to the Leonard Cohen classic song "Hallelujah" and her 19-year-old niece Samantha Crichton from Bellmore sang the tune.

Watch Moritz' video and song tribute where she includes inspirational photos of medical workers dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.

"The lyrics were inspired by words I had seen written in a text message to a friend describing what she was experiencing during this battle. I received pictures from many of my friends that have family members working on the island in our hospitals."
