Week 8 Preview: Sachem East vs. Brentwood

Arrows look to head into post-season for first time since 2008.

Sachem East is looking to recapture that early season winning flair it had when it rattled off four straight wins to open the season.

Things grew tough after a 31-30 loss to Pat-Med in Week 5, and didn't improve much after losses to West Islip and Lindenhurst, both of which will have middle-of-the-pack seeds in the Suffolk County Division I playoffs.

If Sachem wins it will be the sixth seed and most likely will play William Floyd in the first round. If they lose, then there is a chance they don't make the playoffs at all. The numbers will narrowly dictate the final 1-8 seedings.

In game battles: Steven Casali was banged up a bit last game, but should be back in action to power through Brentwood's line at will in Week 8. For Sachem to win, it'll need its workhorse to gallop strong. Brentwood doesn't have any bright spots, but will be anxious to end 2011 on a positive note since they are not playing for the playoffs, yet are playing to be the spoiler of Sachem's thrills.

Next up: With a win, Sachem is in the playoffs and should be the sixth seed. With a loss, things are murky. They'll most likely not make it, but a few scenarios with the power rankings say otherwise. Wait and see and log onto Sachem Patch for all playoff updates.
