Woman Struck, Seriously Injured By Jeep In Lake Ronkonkoma: Police

She was taken to Stony Brook Hospital Medical Center for treatment, Suffolk police said.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A woman was struck by a Jeep in Lake Ronkonkoma and seriously injured on Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

She was walking southbound on Hawkins Avenue, approaching the intersection of Express Drive North, when she was struck by a southbound 2019 Jeep Renegade that was making a right-hand turn at around 6:14 a.m., according to police.

The woman, a 52-yeare-old Ronkonkoma resident, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 73-year-old Lake Ronkonkoma man, was not injured, according to police.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check, police said.
