158 Senior Apartments Proposed For Former Oakdale Golf Site
Greenview Commons, which already runs a senior complex on an adjacent property, is seeking the town's approval. Do you support the proposal?
OAKDALE, NY – The former Oakdale Golf Center on the south Sunrise Highway service road has sit vacant for more than a decade. That could change soon if a local developer gets approval to build 158 seniors apartments on the site.
Greenview Commons, which already operates a senior apartment complex just adjacent to site, is seeking the Town of Islip's approval for the proposed complex.
The town's Planning Board reserved decision on a zoning change request for the property at its Nov. 15 meeting to give Greenview time to meet with local civic groups, town officials told Patch.
