5 Things to Do at the Library During Holiday Break

Take advantage of all that's available at the local library.

Now with schools closed for the holiday week, the house is noisier and it’s a bit harder to get anything done if you’re also home on vacation with the family.

So what better time than to catch up on what’s happening at the local library. There’s plenty going on in addition to all the new books, videos, and events.

Here are five things to do at the Bayport-Blue Point Library this week:

Check out the Displays

Bea Marelli's extensive collection of colorful Nutcrackers is in the west case and her Six-Inch Smoker Nutcrackers are in the east case. Randi Morgans' Barbi Dolls are having Holidays parties in the LeCluse case. The Library's Children Department is showcasing December programs and activities done all through out the year.

Catch a Flick

Monday Dec. 23 is the Monday Movie event: The film is Fargo, starring William Macy. Showtime is 1 p.m.

Go Bilingual in the New Year

Sign the kids up for MuzzyOnline, a new way for kids to learn a different language. Just check with the librarian for more information.

Get Your Puppet On

The library is looking for volunteers to get a puppet troupe going. Parents are needed to help supervise. Just check with the reference librian for more information.

Mark the Calendar for a ‘Don’t Miss Event’

The Great Italian Songbook: Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Great Italian Songbook, performed by singer/guitarist Dave Anthony Setteducati and Quartetto Ducati, features the wonderful music of Italy sung in the original Italian. Don’t worry if you can’t speak “Italiano” – many of the songs featured have been hits on American radio. Come and enjoy some of the most famous melodies of all time.
