Bayport Man Hit, Killed By Truck On Montauk Highway

A 60-year-old man was hit by a flatbed truck in Blue Point. Suffolk County police are investigating the crash.

BLUE POINT, NY — A 60-year-old man from Bayport was killed after he was hit by a flatbed truck while he was walking with a bicycle on Montauk Highway on Saturday night, according to Suffolk County police.

The crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. near Atlantic Avenue in Blue Point, with the truck traveling westbound. The man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, 43-year-old Larry Guyette of Mastic, was not injured, according to police.

Police aren't releasing the name of the pedestrian, pending the notification of family members.

Suffolk County Police Department detectives are investigating the crash and inspected the truck at the scene. Police urge anyone with information on the crash to contact the department's Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
