Bayport Students Raise Money for Charity

Sylvan Avenue Elementary School fifth-graders implemented holiday-themed fundraiser, proceeds to benefit local charity.

Sylvan Avenue Elementary School’s fifth-grade peer leaders organized and implemented a holiday-themed fundraiser for a cause this winter, according to a school press release.

The students created colorful “snowman popcorn” sleeves for individual bags of microwave popcorn and volunteered to sell the tasty treat during the school’s parent/teacher conferences.

The suggested donation for each bag was $1 and, as a result of the generosity of those in attendance, the peer leaders collected $126.
